Canon EOS 5D Mark II to Track Multiple Batteries [DSLRs]

We thought that we already knew just how glorious that Canon's $2,699 EOS 5D Mark II would be, but the camera has one trick up its sleeve that's more practical than another megapixel boost, or maybe even its ability to capture 1080p HD video. Seriously. The camera can keep track of up to six batteries in its internal database, managing which of them still have juice.

Canon and Toray develops world's highest level of flame retardance bio-based plastic

BIO-BASED_pLASTIC.jpgCanon and Toray Industries have successfully developed a bio-based plastic that achieves the world's highest level of flame retardance. The new bio-based plastic, which includes more than 25 percent (by weight) a plant-derived component, will be used in exterior plastic parts for Canon multifunction office systems to be launched beginning next year. Compared with conventional petroleum-based plastics used in multifunction office systems, the new bio-based plastic developed by Canon and Toray offers an expected reduction in manufacturing-related CO2 emissions of approximately 20 percent.

Canon Powershot G10 stuck between DSLR and Point-and-Shoot nomenclature


 

Canon revealed, G10 the top of the line Powershot digital camera from the G-Series. It is an upgrade over its predecessor G9 which gives the benefits of shooting RAW images just like a DSLR but in a small compact form factor of a point-and-shoot camera. G10 is equipped with 14.7 megapixel sensor, 5X optical zoom, 3-inch LCD, DIGIC 4 imaging processor with features like advanced face/motion detection, image stabilization, intelligent contrast correction and Servo AF. Servo AF is a form of continuous focus tracking for moving subjects.

Canon 50D details revealed

50d.jpgCanon's 50D will have a 15.1 megapixel sensor, a Digic 4 image processor, 9-point autofocus, a 3" display, 6.3 fps autofire, a buffer fat enough for 16 RAW images or 60 JPEGs, and live view. These specs are up at Canon's chinese-language site.
