tetris and breakout piggy banks help you pinch pennies

Remember when it cost just a quarter to play your favorite arcade games? What would you say if I told you that you could play two Atari arcade classics for just one red cent a game.

Atari Breakout and Tetris Piggy Banks

While these pint-size versions of Breakout and Tetris aren’t totally faithful to their arcade counterparts, they only charge a single shiny copper penny to play.

There are quite a few videos posted on Youtube of a spectacular meteorite impact in Edmonton. The video footage, as brief as it is, is a real treat. It’s not too often that we get to see them up close and personal like this. I have posted some other angles after the jump.

Flip Mino jumps on the High Definition bandwagon

Despite the current economic slump, there is no turning back to Standard Definition these days when it comes to audio visual entertainment. Everyone is moving towards the High Definition standard - even TV channels are starting to broadcast certain shows in HD glory to take advantage of the fast growing HDTV market in the US these days. With that, other peripherals such as digital cameras and camcorders have also made the plunge by churning out models that are able to record in High Definition resolution, be it 1080p, 1080i or 720p.

Flip Mino HD

I'm a huge fan of the Flip Mino camera, which is tiny and easy and to use, but while the video quality is great for web video and casual use, it's not really what you'd want to capture, say, a wedding or any really important event. Of course, this is not really my concern. For me, I use my Flip cameras to record my dogs doing goofy things and occasionally I find them so cute, I wish the quality was just a bit higher for when I force friends and family to watch their antics on my widescreen television.

Video Review: Stuart Miles of MegaWhat Goes Hands-On with the Vodafone BlackBerry Storm

The folks over at MegaWhat have gone hands-on with the Vodafone BlackBerry Storm. If it seems as though we’ve been bombarded with video reviews of the Storm this past week… it’s because we have! Don’t expect this to be the last either, I predict more and more videos to pop up this coming week.

In the video, Stuart Miles of MegaWhat takes a closer look at the Vodafone BlackBerry Storm, demonstrates the touch and press-to-click features of the device… and actually manages to get a few jabs in on the iPhone, which he probably isn’t a huge fan of.

Enough talk. Check out the video above and let me know what you think.

DIY - How to Make Fog Animator!

.

Here’s a really cool project that uses fog and reat projection video to animate things like eyes under the fog.

If you’ve ever ridden the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland, you will remember how, right before you hit the first drop, you are greeted with the ghostly image of the tentacle-faced Davey Jones creature warning you that “dead men tell no tales”. I certainly did.

iPhone hacked to accommodate a keyboard

Onscreen QWERTY keyboard is always a subjective issue. Probably this Japanese guy didn’t like the fact that his iPhone lacked a physical QWERTY so he decided to take the initiative by himself. He took his jailbroken iPhone, a cheap QWERTY keyboard and modded it to work with the iPhone. Check out the video if you don’t believe me.

Video: Google Androids new way to unlock phone screen

When Apple came up with its revolutionary horizontal slide to unlock the iPhone’s screen, it clearly made a lot of people without iPhones jealous. Now Google Android is doing something similar but not entirely the same, much more fuzzy just to unlock a screen I would say! Users need to challenge 9 dots and they have to swipe their finger on the right way to unlock the screen!
