Blackberry Storm 9500

Blackberry Storm 9500

Touch screen Blackberry Storm, the youngest horse in the race from Blackberry. As most of you probably know it’s their first touch screen unit and it looks to me that they were “inspired” by Apple iPhone design. The Blackberry Storm 9500 incorporates most of the feature of BlackBerry Bold 9000… except for the display. It’s a 3.25″ 480 x 360 pixel panel that apparently gives user’s the feeling of pressing down on a real key, which then lights up.The BlackBerry works in 2 typing modes. In portrait mode, the QWERTY keyboard is at the bottom-half of the screen. In landscape mode, the keyboard occupies most of the screen, thus making each key portion a little large. This is a 3G device, the BlackBerry Storm 9500 has quad-band GSM and UMTS 2100 with support for HSDPA high-speed data. There’s also a US version, the BlackBerry Storm 9530 which runs on CDMA/EV-DO networks. Now the major downside of this unit is that it has no WIFI. That’s a serious drawback. NOKIA bussines phones came with WIFI 2 years ago.  All in all nothing new and extraordinary here. They came in a little too late with Storm 9500. It will be released in US thru Verizon.
