BBQ's Top 5 Fond Memories of PAX '08

Being CEO of the website, I thought it important to relate what I personally found to be the most exciting at PAX '08. Never mind all the jibber-jabber that my lazy underling has written, here's what really counts.

1. Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia

Castlevania Order of Ecclesia

At first, I thought Konami was a no-show, but it turned out there was a very nice girl there with a few Konami DS games. Of course, the only one I really cared about was the new Castlevania, and it did not disappoint. It plays very much like the earlier DS and GBA titles, so I was able to whip through the whole demo pretty fast. This time your main character is a woman(the first time since Castlevania Legends on classic Gameboy) and you've got a new "glyph" system for your weapons. Basically, you can equip two weapons at the same time, and different combinations give you different attacks and effects. Lots of fun, utter 2-D perfection. I can't wait. Dracula, you are mine!

2. Meeting Crypto in Person and Destroy All Humans 3

Crypto is a hero of mine and it was nice to meet him in person. The game looks excellent, see review below written by previously mentioned lazy underling.

3. Left 4 Dead

Normally I'm not that into first-person shooters, but this one looked really good. I never got a chance to play due to the extremely long line, but just watching gave me the shivers of tantalizing pleasure. It's a multi-player survival horror game set during a zombie apocalypse. Only these zombies are very fast, and hordes of them will come pouring out at you when you're not ready. Remember to aim for the brain!

4. Darksiders

A pretty good Devil May Cry-style dungeon crawler about one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, battling the hordes of Hell. Lots of action, fun fighting system, a few puzzles, easy to pick up. And some terrific boss fights. The spokesman kept comparing it to Zelda, which I don't think is accurate. It's a lot darker and less puzzle-heavy, and more action-oriented. But nevertheless good post-apocalyptic fun.

5. Little Red Riding Hood's Zombie BBQ

A DS game where you use the stylus to shoot zombies. To be honest, the gameplay wasn't that great, but this one deserves mention only because it has real nice artwork, and probably the best name for a video game ever.
